Resources for Victims of Identity Theft
If you find that your personal identifying information has been used by someone without your consent, you may be the victim of an identity theft. Personal identifying information includes your name, address, telephone number, identification numbers such as credit card number, driver’s license number, social security number, or a wide range of other numbers assigned to you.
If you believe you are the victim of an identity theft, contact the local law enforcement agency having jurisdiction over your residence or the law enforcement agency having jurisdiction over the location where the crime occurred to report the incident. If possible, have copies of any supporting documentation available for the officer when you make the report.

Department of Justice – Identity Theft Registry
If your name or information has been used by someone when arrested, you should
make a police report and also notify the Department of Justice Identity Theft Registry.

Department of Motor Vehicles
If your driver’s license or DMV ID card or the number has been used by someone,
you should make a police report and also notify the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Social Security Administration
If your Social Security number has been used by someone, you should make a police
report and also notify the Social Security Administration. Fraud Line (800) 269-0271.
